Jeff Shockley Award

Call for Entries

Does your municipality have an individual that deserves to be recognized for their significant contributions to your community?

The Jeff Shockley Award was first established in 2021 recognizing outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to their community as well as their profession through personal growth and involvement. The Oklahoma Municipal League’s Board of Directors established the Jeff Shockley Award in honor of Jeff Shockley, long-time mayor and OML Board Member. Jeff Shockley was recognized by his peers, Oklahoma’s municipal officials, and Oklahoma Legislators, as one who was devoted to his duties and who maintained unquestionable morals and ethics.

Criteria for Selection

Serving an OML member city or town for five years or longer

Examples of community and state involvement

Contributions of significance to the development of the municipality

Personal growth and development in their area of expertise

Unquestionable morals and ethics

Nomination Process

To nominate an individual, please send a Letter of Nomination to OML from a chief official of the municipality. This letter is not to exceed two pages and should include length of service, various positions held with the city and community involvement. Up to two additional Letters of Recommendation from other community, state, or national leaders may be submitted, along with the Letter of Nomination. To submit a nomination please click here.

Please include a photograph of the nominee with the nomination materials.

All nominations are due no later than August 2, 2024. Once received, the selection committee will review each nomination. The nominees will be invited to attend and be recognized at the OML Awards Banquet scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2024.
