Oklahoma’s Women in Municipal Government (WiMG)
Woman of the Year Award
Call for Nominations

Established in 2018, the Woman of the Year Award recognizes outstanding women who have made significant contributions through their roles in municipal government.

The award is presented in two categories:
• Municipalities with populations of 5,000 and over
• Municipalities with populations fewer than 5,000

Eligibility Criteria

• Currently hold an elected municipal office OR be employed with an Oklahoma municipal government
• Municipality must be a member of OML

Nomination Process

• Nomination letter (background, accomplishments, dedication)
• One high-resolution photo for publicity
• Nominations accepted year‑round; annual deadline August 4 (late nominations roll to next year if eligible)
• Submit via OML/WiMG portal or email

Selection & Recognition

• Selection Committee: WiMG Steering Committee (elected by the OML Board of Directors)
• Recognition: Finalists recognized at the WiMG Reception; winners presented at the OML Awards Banquet

Judging Process (Summary)

Each nomination is reviewed individually and scored using a standardized rubric. Judges submit their scoring forms to OML staff. The committee then meets to deliberate and select finalists and winners by majority vote.

Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the OML Conference Awards Banquet
