Mayor of the Year Awards
Call for Nominations

The Mayor of the Year award was first established in 1992 recognizing outstanding Mayors who have made significant contributions to their community as well as their profession through personal growth and involvement.

The Mayor of the Year award has two categories, one with a population of 5,000 and over, and fewer than 5,000. The award will be presented at the Oklahoma Municipal League’s Conference Awards Banquet on Thursday, September 12, 2024 in Tulsa.

Criteria for Selection

• Must be in an elected municipal office at the time of presentation;

• Must have served in an elected municipal office for a minimum of three years;

• Membership in the Mayors Council of Oklahoma; (MCO)

• Municipality must be a member of the Oklahoma Municipal League, (OML); and

• Previous Mayor of the Year winners are not eligible for re-nomination.

Nomination Process

• Nomination letter with personal information and background, contributions significant to the development of the municipality, accomplishments in the community, dedication to office, and other areas of service or recognition.

• One photo for publicity.

• Submit all materials by August 2, 2024.

The selection committee of Mayors will review each nomination and select the finalists. The finalists will be notified of their selection and will be recognized at the MCO Mayors Breakfast at the OML statewide conference on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in Tulsa. The Mayor of the Year Awards will be presented at the OML Awards Banquet on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
